Don't worry Byron. Your days of watching corpses like Peja and Emeka are over. You have been released. Such a fall from grace in New Orleans and it has to be pinned on pour management. Going out an over-spending on Peja and James Posey handicapped the roster with the luxory tax. They had to dump salaries and could not sign anyone of value. A few draft blunders and the poor assimilation of Emeka Okafor. I really want to like Okafor, I really do. He seems like a great human being, very involved in charity and earning respect for graduating with honors from UConn with a Finance degree in only 3 years! He was no cupcake on campus. However, what Chandler gave Paul on the court as far as a target, Okafor has yet to deliver. He is comparatively slow and stiff which doesn't mean he is useless but he plays away from Paul's strengths. Which, again brings me back to Hornets management. They have consistently given guys away (or let them get away) who fit well with CP3, apparently the franchise guy. Yet, they are throwing money at guys who don't fit.
Sooooo.... Byron Scott takes the fall (despite an apparent good relationship with CP3) and Tyson Chandler was the one piece that had to change (despite being CP3's best friend). And the result? Make GM Jeff Bower the head coach. Ok, whatever. New Orleans is dumb. And apparently Chris Paul was never told about the news until after it happened.....
This was seen from above the shores of Lake Pontchartrain this morning.
I think this will work out ok for Byron Scott. The guy takes heat but he has put winning products together wherever he has gone but teams seem to pull the cord on him. Sounds like the LA Clippers may be his next landing spot so once again, he will have to fight with inept upper management but this may actually be a great squad for Byron. Remember, he was praised for his tactical usage of rookies and young guys (Richard Jefferson, Brandon Armstrong, Kenyon Martin) in NJ. He will have some good opportunities with the LAC lineup if thats the way things go. He will be reunited with Rasual Butler who blossomed in Scott's system and will have access to young talent like Blake Griffin, Eric Gordon, DeAndre Jordan, and Al Thornton.
Team that with veteran's BDavis, Kaman, and Camby........
Wait a minute... there is actually some great potential in Clipper-land.
